I got a message on Facebook a day ago from this guy claiming to be the manager of the modeling agency of modern modeling scouting and Abercrombie. He said that the manager liked the way that I looked and that I was what they are looking for. He said that I could be one of these models that goes to conventions and could possible be on a poster and the shopping bags. But could this be real? Especially because it was over Facebook? ThanksCould this modeling opportunity be real or is it a scam?
It could be real. Do some research on the person or company first. Just check Google for any information about them. But do not, under any circumstance, pay for anything. If they start asking you for money, then it's probably a scam.Could this modeling opportunity be real or is it a scam?
Approach with caution. Take a friend if you go anywhere. Most important don't give them any money.Could this modeling opportunity be real or is it a scam?
I have never heard of a legitimate model scout scouting in Facebook
First of all, the models on Abercrombie bags and posters all started out as models in their stores. You can't model for them unless you are already an employee
Second, Abercrombie scouts their own models through the individual store managers who forward pictures of the models in their stores to the corporate headquarters. They never scout for random people on Facebook
Third, if you are under 18 no legitimate model scout would even speak to you directly about work. They can't. An agency can only speak to your parent or legal guardian
These are almost all perverts looking for people to send pictures of themselves which they will sell to porn sites without your permission.

Tell him you need his company address and landline phone number and your DAD will be calling him tomorrow to discuss this. Say that you cannot talk to him anymore and your dad will be in touch. Say that your dad is a cop and is aware of modeling scams so he wants to talk to him to confirm everything is legitimate.
Then defriend this man and block him from contacting you again
And report this to Abercrombie. Call the 800-number customer service on their website and report the profile of the person pretending to be a model scout for them. They will pass this on to their security team for investigation
My cousin tried that. She ended up giving them more money than they gave her.
