When am I least fertile and when is the best time to have sex without getting pregnant?

I'm planning on using condoms, getting the birth control pill is not an option for me at the moment so I can basically only rely on condoms and following my period. My period has been regulating lately and it's usually about 30 days long. How does the ovulation period work?

Is it 10 days before and after your period that you can have sex? I keep finding different answers and I'm not sure what exactly to follow. I'd appreciate some help!

Thanks :)When am I least fertile and when is the best time to have sex without getting pregnant?
hey, well, the egg itself drops from your uterus 2 day before your period, if you know your time of the month, and your always on time, then 3 or 4 days before is also ok. but, if your not always the same time, then anytime after your period until 2 weeks is ok, you wont get pregnant :)When am I least fertile and when is the best time to have sex without getting pregnant?
If you want to seriously check when you're ovulating, it will take a lot of work, checking your temperature daily, mucus and more. You can get urine dip sticks but I didn't find them useful in telling me when I was about to ovulate. Start with this website, I found it a big help http://www.fertilityfriend.com It's to help you know when your fertile to get pregnant, but you can use it to know when you can use it for the opposite reason.

Condoms are about 98% safe (no method of contraception is 100% safe). Have you considered using a diaphragm? You use it with spermicide gel, it's another barrier method of contraception and can be used with condoms! http://www.fpa.org.uk for professional advice.

You're looking to do things safely, but this is some of the advice I gave to someone who was having unprotected sex near their period, which you might find part useful. Hope this all helps.

The withdrawal method doesn't work. When a man gets erect (hard) he has fluid called pre-ejaculate (pre-come), this can contain sperm, you only need one sperm to get pregnant.

The average cycle (period to period) is 28 days and would release an egg about day 10-14 of their cycle. Some women's cycles are longer, shorter, or erratic this means they're egg could be released around a different time. Also, you have to take other factors such as stress, diet etc, which can cause someones egg to be released differently to normal. Therefore, it is possible to get pregnant before, during and after your period.

Sperm can live in the body for up to 7 days!

(A pregnancy test won't show a positive result until 2-3 weeks after unprotected sex, because you have to wait for the pregnancy hormone to build up in your system, if you were to be pregnant). When am I least fertile and when is the best time to have sex without getting pregnant?
you will have to talk to a fertility specialist to get this kind of information.
